A letter from Senator Myers;

I would like to take a moment to introduce myself. My name is Judith A. Myers, and I have served the 53rd legislative district as senator since 1997. I have lived in East Central Illinois most of my life, and I have served as a public official since 1980.

Outside of my public life, I am a proud mother of five and grandmother of four. I am a member of St. James United Methodist Church in Danville. My husband Mel and I have owned Depke Gasses and Welding Supplies in Danville and Urbana since 1977. And, in our free time, my husband and I enjoy riding our 1999 Harley-Davidson Road King Classic.

In the Senate I serve as the vice-chairman of the Executive Appointments Committee, and I am a ranking member of the Agriculture and Conservation, and Local Government committees.

I have worked to expand the crime victim and witness notification system, to aid victims of domestic violence, to allow women to have OB-GYN doctors as primary care physicians, to require that insurance policies cover preventative measures, to increase penalties for tampering with anhydrous ammonia tanks, to ban telephone companies' practice of adding unwanted services, to create cooperative high schools, and to double Illinois' personal income tax exemption.
